FreshToHome Fish Review

Most of the times I like to order Mutton and chicken from Fresh to Home but this time we tried ordering some fish.

rawa fried tilapia from freshtoHome

September is here and we were craving for some fresh and safe fish. Usually, buying fish is somewhat tricky especially for people like me who do not have much knowledge of buying fish, How and what to check and all!!

I searched on the Fresh To Home app and saw some fillets of Tilapia, Cobia, Queen fish and Sail fish. Finally ordered some Tilapia fish fillets.

(There are many types of boneless/ single boned fishes available in the market but we prefer fishes with scales and hence I chose Tilapia)

Juicy Indian Tilapia Boneless Fillet – 250g+ Pack (Freshly Frozen)

Tilapia is a fish with such a rich history that the Egyptians considered it as a symbol of rebirth and all mummies used to be packed with the Tilapia symbol. In modern times, its taste is so rich that a couple of re-births are worth the Tilapia. The Fillet is wild caught, chemical free and freshly frozen.

My Experience:

My first question was: Is Tilapia safe to consume? I had read a lot about how it is farmed and it is not safe but when I read this line “The Fillet is wild-caught, chemical-free and freshly frozen” I was satisfied.

Price: ₹299.00 /pack for 250 gms
Packaging
: 3 pieces of fresh fillets of Tilapia fish were packed in a clear plastic packaging.

VFM*: Yes

Shelf life: The package did not have any sticker with the information. On asking the customer care team, they said they were having some problem with their sticker machine. I intended to make the fish fillets that same day so I didn’t really mind about the storage information.

marinating fish from freshToHome
before frying

I marinated the fish fillets with lemon juice, ginger garlic paste, turmeric, salt, chili powder and some packaged fish fry masala. After marinating for an hour, I coated the fish fillets in a mix of rawa and rice flour and fried it on the tawa with some oil.

Result: The fish fillets did not have any fishy smell, I was pleasantly surprised. Also, because these were fillets, it did not have any bones which is a huge plus point for us.

Overall SR Rating: 4.5/5
Taste:
5/5
Smell: 5/5
Value: 5/5
Ease of Use: 5/5
Packaging: 4/5 (1 point less for not providing the relevant information)

Will I repurchase: Definitely
Availability: Available on app and website
